Trade “Busy” for Being: A Transformational Retreat at Hemlock Neversink
We believe that rest is a radical act—and one that’s absolutely essential for wellness. That’s why we’re so excited to be partnering with mindset and movement coach Nadia Murdock for her upcoming Return to Self Weekend, a restorative retreat designed to help you slow down, reset, and reconnect with what truly matters.
We sat down with Nadia to learn more about the inspiration behind the weekend, what guests can expect, and why she chose Hemlock Neversink as the backdrop for this special experience. From guided journaling and breathwork to open conversation and time in nature, Return to Self is more than a getaway—it’s a chance to come home to yourself.
What is the Return to Self Weekend?
The Return to Self Weekend is a restorative, wellness-focused retreat designed to help you slow down and reconnect with yourself. Get back to what truly matters. Held in a serene, nature-rich setting, this intimate weekend blends mindfulness, movement, mental clarity, and community connection.
I wanted to include not just one element of wellness which is why I made it a point to have guided practices like journaling, breathwork, movement, and intentional conversations be the vibe of the retreat. My hope is that participants will use the space to release stress, build grounded confidence, and return home to themselves mentally, emotionally, and physically.
This is a chance to trade burnout for balance, and “busy” for being.
What inspired you to host it?
As a wellness coach, I’ve seen time and time again how easy it is for individuals, especially those juggling their careers, parenthood, and personal growth, to lose connection with themselves in the name of staying productive or “strong.” I know because I have been there! I created the Return to Self Weekend because I knew there needed to be a safe space where you can pause, breathe, and remember who you are underneath all the demands of everyday life.
I was inspired by my own healing journey and the women I coach who often say they just want a moment to reset and feel seen. I wanted to design something more than a retreat. I wanted to create an experience that felt grounding, nourishing, and real. A place where you could step away from survival mode and step back into your own power that sometimes is forgotten.
Why should I attend?
The Return to Self Weekend is more than a getaway, it’s a reset. If you’ve been pouring into everyone else, navigating constant stress, or simply feeling disconnected from who you are, this experience is for you.
There’s no shame in feeling this way; it's more common than you might realize. That’s exactly why I wanted to bring people together: to create a space where we can feel seen, heard, and empowered through each other’s stories.
The guided practices that help to restore your nervous system and give you space to reflect, move, and breathe without pressure. This is just the beginning of a significant transformation.
This is your space to exhale and return to yourself fully.
What made you choose Hemlock Neversink to host this workshop?
After working with Hemlock Neversink on another wellness event, I felt like this would be the perfect match for what Return to Self is all about. From the moment I first experienced the space, I could feel how intentionally it was designed to support rest, reflection, and reconnection. The staff mirrors the values of the establishment, so full of life and open to exploring possibilities, which is what life is all about!
Hemlock is serene, inviting, and naturally beautiful without the distractions that you may regularly experience.
I wanted a location that would allow participants to truly unplug, drop into their bodies, and feel present. The connection to nature that Hemlock offers is calming and the overall sense of care and thoughtfulness in every detail made it a clear choice.
It’s not just a venue, it’s an experience.
